Tegna is expanding local news with live 7–9 a.m. morning newscasts across more than 50 U.S. markets, available via station streaming apps, connected-TV platforms, and websites. This initiative adds over 100 hours of daily local programming, serving breaking news, weather, and traffic to over 100 million viewers and meeting rising demand for on-the-go coverage. Initial trials at stations like KGW (Portland), WCNC (Charlotte), and WKYC (Cleveland) saw streaming viewership rise nearly 50%, with spikes during severe weather. Tegna’s Chief Content Officer Adrienne Roark highlighted the strategy as enhancing community engagement and branding opportunities. The rollout begins this summer, with full adoption by fall.
