Amazon has confirmed that its standalone Freevee app will be discontinued in August 2025, with all its ad-supported content—like originals, licensed movies, and live TV—migrating to Prime Video’s free-with-ads section. Users will still be able to access media labeled “Free to Watch” within Prime Video, and no content changes are planned for Prime subscribers. The shutdown aligns with Amazon’s strategy to simplify its streaming ecosystem by merging Freevee into its broader Prime Video platform. Freevee, which launched in 2019 as IMDb Freedive and rebranded in 2022, will cease standalone operation after August.
